School sucked
I think this applies to the U.S as a whole but school starts wayyyyyyyyyy too early here. At 8am in the morning my brain simply just doesn't work. Even if I force myself to go to sleep at 10pm at night I still would usually naturally wake up at around 9 or 10 AM. I usually know if I have gotten enough sleep if I naturally wake up without an alarm clock or screaming parents. I don't know why schools think the student should be focused in class when they are half-asleep in class due to school starting so early. Albeit that some students are an early bird and can wake up early but I personally think normal people need school to start a bit later.
Despite how uni is really liberal, I hate how uni administration can be really conservative or really slow with their policies and way of doing things. I am pretty sure that pushing start time for school to be later been talked about for multiple years and I have yet been able to wake up at 9 and get to school on time. There was an emailing system thing too. A lot of people have to work around the emailing system because of the unwanted changes. We had to start using individual emails because our school-wide system feels like it is stuck in LA traffic during busy hours.
There are a lot of things I want to change about the world but to put in more broad terms - Politician needs to be held accountable for their actions. I am talking about the Epstein ordeal, Donald Trump, coal profiteers, etc. There are so many lies in politics. I understand you need to win elections and vote and such but why lie to get it? Aren't you trying to improve the situation for the betterment of the people? I may be naive in all of this but if you have a goal of bettering the people as a whole I feel like it wouldn't be that hard to work together. How is the fact that Donald Trump is closely connected with Epstein not throw shades all over his position? Why is he in office without anyone looking at what he's doing? Albeit now there are more eyes on him more than ever but it is not enough. There are people who even oppose climate change because it would hurt their profits. Why do they care? If you make 1 million less profit in your already multi-million corporation, why do you care? I ask why they are putting the survival of the human race at risk just to push their means of artificial wealth that won't mean anything if we are dead.
There's our president too. It is a blunder to me how he is not impeached a long time ago. He threatened a whistleblower, promised civil war, leaked confidential assets in foreign countries, etc. He is a total liability to the U.S yet there are still a massive amount of people who would support him. I really confuse what benefits the common people would get. I understand why the rich want to support him, but I would imagine that is a small percentage of his supporters.
And specifically to my more Asian family and relatives. I wish I could change their minds about stereotypes around race and videogames. Oddly specific, but I hear about these things way too much. Every time I play games, I would hear among the lines of, "games useless", "too much game" , etc. I don't understand why people need to get on my case when I'm trying to relax. Then there's the race thing. From my personal experience, Asian parents and such really like to judge people based on their race. They would tell me to lock the doors every time we pass by a black guy or stay away from certain people, etc. It really gets on my nerves and every single time I would ask them to stop but guess what... they never do.

I found this blog post really interesting, especially because so many people can relate to the opinions you have on here. For me, I really resonated with the starting school early one. I like how you touch on the subject of being astonished that people can actually believe the opposite of your opinion, especially since sometimes I can relate to getting carried away with what I think compared to other's perspectives.
ReplyDeleteYou had a lot of very interesting ideas that you presented in this blog post. It seems very stream of consciousness, with paragraphs associated through coloration detailing your thoughts on a multitude of diverse topics. I personally am more of an "early bird" as I go to bed at 8:30 and wake up at 5. I would still profit from a later start as I would be able to sleep directly after school and spend the entire morning working. Great work!
ReplyDeleteI like, as Joel also commented, the stream of consciousness of this post. I like that you start small, with uni policy and expand out into broader American politics. I definitely agree with your description on the time that school starts. No matter how hard I try, I naturally wake up at 9 without an alarm to wake me up on school days. I think later start times would be beneficial, but at the same time for me personally it probably wouldn't change that much.
ReplyDeleteThis is why we must abolish the Uni Government, they have made little to no changes and we also have little to no representation in important matters. They have taken away our ancient rights and we as humans must respond. LONG LIVE LIBERTY
ReplyDeleteThis post was pretty immersive, because I had to process the important ideas you were writing about. The opinions you hold are also shared by many of us students, so I like how I could relate to your ideas. This is also a really interesting time to bring up these topics, because we may see a change in schedule very soon.
ReplyDeleteYou have a lot of interesting ideas in this blog post. I think politics, as always, is a very interesting but also very hard subject to discuss. And sadly, I think corruption is an inevitability in any society we hold. However, it is true that America is currently one of the most corrupt 1st world countries out there. Here is a study from princeton: https://scholar.princeton.edu/sites/default/files/mgilens/files/gilens_and_page_2014_-testing_theories_of_american_politics.doc.pdf (look at graphs on page 10) which shows just how favorable positions are for the rich, partly because we have quite literal legal corruption with lobbying firms being able to offer cushy jobs to congress people if they support their opinion. Similarly, the taxing on the mega rich corporations like amazon or apple are barely anything because they have the lawyers and the resources to just make sueing them not worth the trouble or the money. And they expect people to "raise themselves up by their bootstraps" as they once did, when they make it impossible for just about anybody but themselves to live in America. It doesn't help how divided our current political sphere is either.
ReplyDeleteIts interesting to see the what you think about such broad and different topics. I like the fact that your writing is very raw and personal, in the sense that you write it how you think it, and it very much reads in your voice, and I enjoy this kind of style.
