Would Jake and Brett have been together if Jake didn't suffer the war scar?

As the title said, would Jake and Brett got together if Jake didn't suffer from his war scar? One could argue that if Jake was able to function in moments of intimacy, Brett and Jake would have hit it off well. It is mentioned in the passage that they have tried it before, but it fell apart because Jake and Brett couldn't relieve each other's urges. In theory, if this was their only problem, Jake would able to have a relationship with Brett if he didn't suffer a war injury.

I argue otherwise. The reason why Jake and Brett got so close is that they were able to comfort each other when they were in distress. Jake lost his manliness during the war and Brett lost her true love during the war. Because they were able to relieve each other's pain, they were able to grow closer and form an unbreakable emotional bond. If Jake didn't lose his manliness during the war, he could very much be compared to Robert Cohn who Brett shook off constantly. He is obsessed with Brett and basically is being played by Brett (I don't think Brett is playing him on purpose, just throwing that out there) much like Cohn. Therefore, Brett would have just ignored or play Jake as she did with Cohn.

Just throwing this out there for fun: What If Brett and Jake weren't affected by the war. Personally, I think they would never have met. Brett would still be with her true love and Jake would probably be trying to shack up with somebody else. There is also a theory where Brett true love was Jake, but Jake lost his manliness and therefore Brett lost her true love. In that case, then Brett and Jake would have just stayed together.

    I think that this is all true. If Jake had suffered a different kind of scar that still impacted him emotionally but didn't affect his sex life, he and Brett would have 100% been together in the end. However, I don't know if Jake would have truly been happy with Brett still going around with several men, he clearly seems jealous, although you could argue that he's only jealous in the first place because he can't be with her because of his injury.

When comparing Peter Walsh and Clarissa Dalloway, you see a few difference between them but quite a bit of similarity. throughout the book, Peter Walsh is quite judgemental with many people especially Dalloway, the woman he once loved. Does Mersault really deserve death?

Meursault was handed a death sentence after his conviction. But we must ask, does Mersault really deserve a death sentence? In class, we have looked at the court's view on the Arab. They weren't significant in convicting Meursault. They were simply a side piece that was there, they weren't named. The court was more focused on his mentality rather than the crime he committed. Even then, he would be serving a sentence for 2nd-degree murder which is just usually a time in prison. Meursault in his testimony would no way be worse than a hard-core criminal that needs to be completely eradicated from society. His testimony was honest which also should have been accounted in court. He didn't try to weasel out of a sentence in court. Meursault does claim that the sun was influencing him to commit the murder. Grind and Relax

I have two favorite places on campus. One of them is the Grainger Library. Grainger library is perfect for studying, sleeping, or a quick coffee. I frequent the 2nd floor almost every day to find a place to do my school work. It’s quiet, and you have a booth like a desk that helps you with privacy. It also comes with its own outlet and ethernet outlet, so you don’t need to scavenge for them. My one gripes with this place are the fact that it’s usually packed during the weekends. However, the Grainger library is open 24/7, so you could drop by at 2 AM, and it would be half empty.   It has a Royal Expresso on the first floor to supply you with coffee to fuel your midnight grind sessions. The basement, 1st floor, and 3rd floor provide spaces and resources for group study. There are big desks with a tv-sized monitor with HDMI cables so you can link your desktop to it.
